We're thrilled that you've decided to learn more about becoming a member
At Bristol GMC we are serious about having fun whilst attaining excellent performance standards - so we ask that you have:
a pleasant singing voice but don’t worry, no previous is experience needed.
a good sense of pitch and rhythm & the ability to blend well with other voices – no divas allowed!
the ability to learn music and lyrics and take musical direction – we’ll provide sheet music, sound files and plenty of tips of tricks.
We’ll also ask you:
to work on learning outside of rehearsals so we can perform from memory and rock the stage.
to bring a friendly & open outlook to rehearsal, a sense of cooperation and a willingness to work to high musical standards.
pay the membership fees.
Attendance at a Voice Assessment is a pre-requisite for joining Bristol GMC as a singing member. The Voice Assessment tells us which section you may be most suitable for (Tenor 1, Tenor 2, Baritone or Bass).
We completely understand that the idea of attending an assessment is potentially nerve-wracking, but hopefully we can make it as painless as possible, and maybe even fun!
(Face to face rehearsals are held at a location in central Bristol, but due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, we've moved all activity online and will be rehearsing bi-weekly via Zoom until it is safe for us to meet in person again).
Are you ready to get started?
Send us an email, giving us a few details about yourself, and we'll get in touch ASAP to let you know when the next Voice Assessment Evening is.
