We're absolutely thrilled that you're interested in joining the Bristol Gay Men's Chorus (BGMC) family!
Our choir is all about having a blast while striving for excellence in performance. So, what do we look for in our members?
First and foremost, we want you to have a pleasant singing voice, but don't worry if you haven't had much experience - we welcome all skill levels and will work with you to improve your singing. It's also important that you have a good sense of pitch and rhythm and that you're able to blend well with the rest of the group. We don't tolerate divas here, so we hope you'll bring a cooperative attitude and a willingness to work as part of a team!
Don't worry about learning the music on your own - we'll provide you with sheet music, sound files, and lots of tips and tricks to help you get up to speed. And, of course we'll ask that you practice outside of rehearsals so that we can really rock the stage when the time comes!
When you join us for rehearsals, we want you to bring your best self - a friendly and open attitude, a commitment to excellence in music and a sense of cooperation. We'll also ask that you pay monthly membership fees to help support the choir.
Before you join us as a singing member, we'll need you to attend a quick 5-minute voice assessment. We know that this might seem daunting but we promise to make it as fun and painless as possible! This assessment will help us figure out which section you'll best fit into - whether it's Tenor 1, Tenor 2, Baritone, or Bass.
We can't wait to welcome you into our choir family! Our face-to-face rehearsals take place in Bedminster in central Bristol, and we'll let you know all the details via email so you know exactly where to go.

We’re not planning any new Taster Sessions at the moment as we’ve hit the maximum membership limit for the choir.
If you’d like to join our Waiting List, send us an email with a few details about yourself and we’ll keep your details on record. Once any spaces become available we’ll contact you to see if you’re still interested in joining, and get you along to a rehearsal.
